Laser Tattoo Removal
We remove tattoos by using the Q switch ND Yag laser. Black and red tattoos are easy to remove but green ones are difficult. When you come to the clinic we will first assess the size and depth of the tattoo and then a quotation as to the cost is given. If you agree we will apply anaesthetic cream and wait for 30 minutes or so. The tatooo removal may take as little as 3 to as many as 8 sessions depending on the type of ink and depth of the tattoo. Each session is at monthly intervals.

Today, lasers are the most common method of tattoo removal. They work by targeting the ink with pulses of highly concentrated laser light that break the ink into tiny fragments, which are then cleared away by your body's natural cleansing mechanism. However, this isn't all done with just one treatment.
We use a 'Q' SWITCHED ND:YAG LASER of wavelength 1064/532 nanometers for tattoo removal sometimes combined with an ALEXANDRITE LASER 755 nanometers.

 How many treatments will i need?
The number of treatments required for maximum improvement depends on the size, location, depth and color of your tattoo. Green and Yellow tattoos are particularly difficult and require many more treatments. Treatments should be placed 4 to 8 weeks apart to allow your body to remove the maximum amount of tattoo pigment. Treatment sessions usually take from 10 to 30 minutes. You will continue to see a lightening of your tattoo after each treatment as your body disposes of more pigment. Most patients will see improvement in their tattoos. The improvement can be quite dramatic. However, large or heavily pigmented tattoos applied by a professional tattooist can require several treatments for optimum results.
Is the treatment painful?
A local numbing cream is applied. Sometimes a local anesthetic injection is necessary.
Are there any side effects?
Occasionally, hypopigmentation, or a whitening of the skin, may occur. But, normal skin tone should return within 6 - 12 months following your last treatment session. Since the ink used in tattooing is not regulated, some patients have only partial clearing even after several laser sessions.
